Dear colleagues,
It is a pleasure to note that in the process of publishing professional and scientific research, we have a significant participation of young colleagues. There are, also, our senior colleagues, who are exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced, and who now serve as mentors to new generations of young engineers, master’s and doctoral students. It is especially important for the young generations to master their scientific and research methods, about what they are learning in the course of their second and third study cycle, in the framework of individual courses. The scientific method, as a standard for science, combines the use of careful observation, experiments, measurements, mathematics, and repetition. Scientists are expected to publish their discoveries in reference journals, i.e. scientific periodicals, where reviewers, before the work is published, check the stated scientific results and applied research methodologies. In line with the above mentioned, a long-standing mission of MAŠINSTVO is to contribute to the publication of scientific achievements in the field of technical sciences. The direction this Journal wants to follow is to publish quality papers that undergo the mandatory peer-review process, what also aims to achieve another goal: to fulfill the prerequisites for indexation of the Journal.

In this double issue, MAŠINSTVO brings three papers from different thematic areas. The first one presents the application of SINTAP analysis in the assessment of the structural integrity, the second one explains the legal aspects and experiences of BiH court expert witnesses in the field of mechanical engineering, and the third paper offers the overview of application of the experiment plan in the assessment of the stress intensity factor in the construction of a pressure vessel.
In order to present scientific, research and professional capacities, the Journal follows new trends and practices in multidisciplinary areas. In regard to it, from the previous issue, all papers are published only in English We kindly invite all esteemed colleagues, especially our young colleagues from all universities and other related institutions, to take part and publish their scientific and professional research results in this journal, which is a significant project of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of University in Zenica and provides the opportunity for presentations of scientific research and professional research results from highlighted, and related, thematic
areas.

The ‘Guidelines for Authors’ section provides basic guidelines for preparing and writing papers.
In particular sections, we continue the tradition of presentingscientific, research and economic capacities from the environment.

Sincerely,
Fuad Hadžikadunić, Editor-in-Chief

APPLICATION OF THE SINTAP ANALYSIS IN THE CASE OF A THICKWALLED PRESSURE VESSEL WITH CRACKS IN THE SUPPORT ZONE

Fracture mechanics is a field that is increasingly studied and applied in modern industry. One of the most widely accepted methods for assessing structural integrity in this field is the SINTAP method. Although there are many literary sources available that discuss thismethod, very few of them present its concrete application. This paper presents t...

APPLICATION OF THE PLANNED EXPERIMENT FOR DETERMINING THE STRESS INTENSITY FACTOR IN VESSEL HEADS USING FEM ANALYSIS

This paper deals with the numerical determination of the stress intensity factor KI for meridional cracks on the ellipsoidal head of pressure vessels. The experiment was carried out according to selected parameters, including vessel diameter, wall thickness and pressure. The analysis of the results concluded that the cylindrical segment of the elli...
